"Nothing will keep me down - within me lies a powerful inner strength"

The College Essay - Due by May 29

The College Essay will be helpful for you in your upcoming college application process.  The prompts are from the Common Application form.  Choose one of the prompts and write a four paragraph essay with proper spelling, grammar, punctuation with a strong sense of voice, style, and originality.  I will also inlcude two articles to give you information to consider when writing your essay.

When you submit your essay, please make sure you have enabled the edit feature so I can have the ability to edit and revise to help strengthen your response.  Please include the topic choice as the title of your essay so I know what you are writing about.  If possible, I would like you to type the essay using 12 point font and double spacing.  Feel free to email me with any questions or if you would like me to review what you have written. I am including the list of topics along with two articles to read so you have some ideas about how to write the essay along with suggestions on what to do and what not to do.

Tips for Writing the College Essay

Update: There will not be a "final exam" grade for this course. Your course average will be based on the 10, 20, 30, and 40 week marking period grades. The College Essay will count for the 40 week marking period. I will include some additional web sources to help you with the essay.  Good luck!
