• Humane Treatment of Animals

New York State Education Law Section §809 requires that students enrolled in a course that includes the dissection of an animal be given the opportunity to perform an alternative project if the student has a moral or religious objection to performing or witnessing the dissection or any part of it. The student’s parent or legal guardian must substantiate that objection in writing. Alternative projects must be approved by the teacher of the class and students cannot be penalized for performing an alternative project. If you will be asking to perform an alternative project, please notify the course instructor to allow sufficient time for an alternative project to be selected and approved. If you have any further questions contact the school principal.
